In 1996, Floyd and Yvonne moved to Arkansas to work with First Pentecostal Church in Gravel Ridge pastored by Rev. Gene Sorrells. Floyd assumed the role of School Administrator/Principal and Assistant to the Pastor. While there, he developed his pulpit ministry and became very effective in preaching the Word of God. Floyd graduated in 1998 with a BA in Business and received his General Ministerial License with the UPCI.
In March of 2000 Floyd and Yvonne answered the call to The Apostolic Church in Albemarle, NC where they pastored for three years. During their tenure there, they completely remodeled the church facilities and set the church business to order. God was working with the Flowers and the church more than doubled under their leadership. Floyd became an Ordained Minister with the UPCI while in the North Carolina District.
In August of 2004, by a large majority, Floyd and Yvonne were elected to serve the great congregation of First Pentecostal Church as Pastor. God has blessed this church with their capable leadership and a vision for continued growth and revival in Gainesville. Pastor Flowers is a dynamic speaker/teacher and very knowledgeable in the Word of God. Under this leadership, we have aquired six beautiful acres in a very prominent area and built the first phase of our campus. The new facility includes a sanctuary, kitchen/fellowship hall, classrooms, youth center, evangelist suite, and more. All of this is debt free - to God be the glory. We believe that this is just the beginning of what God has in store for First Pentecostal Church.
Pastor Floyd G. Flowers, Jr. was born October 25, 1969 in Denison, Texas to Rev. Floyd Sr. and Yvonne Flowers. Throughout his childhood and teenage years, the Flowers family pastored several churches all over the United States including South Dakota, Louisiana, Texas and California. As a teenager, Floyd felt the call of God into the ministry.
After graduating high school in 1988, Floyd began studying for his BA in Business. During this time, he met the love of his life, Yvonne Pound, from Rialto, California where Rev. Gerald Buxton pastored her family for many years. Floyd and Yvonne were married on December 14, 1991. They worked in the local church under Bro. Buxton for several years during which time their two beautiful children (Ciara and Andrew) were born. Floyd received his Local License with the United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI) while in California.
